DescriptionNowadays, choosing an on-chip monitoring system can be a challenging and time-consuming task, unsuitable with strict and customary project time constraints. Hence, we here introduce MONICA, a usable framework to characterize on-chip monitoring systems. This work has been carried out within the FitOptiVis European project, using DeeJay - an action research formal methodological framework. Our aim is twofold: providing a model and its corresponding tool. While the model is able to exhaustively characterize any monitoring system, the tool serves as a support for designers in selecting suitable monitoring systems for their intended application, enforcing reusability.
