DescriptionSplit manufacturing has been proposed to prevent intellectual property (IP) piracy. Researchers have formulated various attacks and defenses, creating a cat-and-mouse game. Here, we take an orthogonal approach; rather than developing an attack or a defense, we propose a game-theoretic framework to analyze their respective impact on performance and security from a monetary standpoint. Our framework helps evaluate existing attacks and defenses. We perform simulations using eight attacks, three defenses on ten benchmarks. Our study indicates that an attacker should not use all available techniques; instead, she should use a subset, and that large benchmarks are inherently secure.
