Rui Mao received his M.S degree in statistics and his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, in 2006 and 2007, respectively. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 1997 and 2000, respectively. After three years of working at the Oracle USA Corporation, he joined Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China in 2010. He is now a full professor and an associate dean of the College of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China. His work on the pivot space model was awarded the SISAP 2010 Best Paper award. His research interest includes universal data management and analysis in metric space, and high performance computing.
