SUMMARY:CANCELLED: IO Performance Modeling for Communication Workloads
DESCRIPTION:Networking Reception, Work-in-Progress Poster\n\nCANCELLED: IO
Performance Modeling for Communication Workloads\n\nKhan, Abousamra, Isla
 m, O'Neal, Millier...\n\nCommunication workloads’ pre-silicon perfor
mance on compute servers is not only a function of core and uncore perform
ance, but also dependent on IO performance. We present augmenting Simics f
unctional simulator with performance tools to convert core/uncore into per
 formance models enabling pre-silicon HW-SW co-simulation environment. We u
se event scheduling to extend a multiport NIC to simulate IO pipelines and
state machines. DDIO flows are modeled to accurately predict LLC and memo
ry access delays, synchronizing IO and core flows into the uncore. We corr
elate this platform using VPP-FIB communication workload against proprieta
ry performance simulators at speeds more than two orders of magnitude fast
 er.\n\nVirtual Program: Presented In-Person
