  Client Needs\n\nHackathorn\n\nEven with decades of product development ex
 perience, the team continuously revises the new product introduction (NPI)
  process to maximize product innovation and alignment to client needs. \n\
 nRapidly increasing computing power and connectivity for Internet of Thing
 s (IoT) devices drove significant new potential deployment options and new
  client needs. This required more flexibility and more depth of experience
 .  \n\nTo achieve those competing objectives, we required cross functional
  NPI teams to include the following specialties: \n-Electrical and mechani
 cal engineering \n-Manufacturing engineering \n-Operations \n-Quality assu
 rance \n-Tech support \n-Finance \n-Purchasing \n-Sales  \n\nWe also used 
 a phased gate approach to progression of the development process, to ensur
 e review from all potential perspectives. The phases chosen were: \n-Conce
 pt \n-Design \n-Design verification and validation \n-Operations validatio
 n \n-Phase and project final review \n\nThe last change the team made to t
 he process was requiring the entire NPI team to agree before a product cou
 ld enter the next phase gate. \n\nThis final structure of the NPI process 
 was the result of a great deal of testing and optimization. The result ach
 ieved its objectives of client need alignment and opportunity for innovati
