SUMMARY:Expediting Data Converter Layouts using Design Planning & Analysis
  (DPA) Automation
DESCRIPTION:Designer, IP and Embedded Systems Track Presentations\n\nExped
iting Data Converter Layouts using Design Planning & Analysis (DPA) Automa
tion\n\nThompson, Kumar, Bhargava, LaBorde\n\nHierarchical Designs are cha
llenging to plan and estimate while layout implementation specially when s
ub-cells layout views are not present throughout the hierarchy. Generate A
ll From Source for top cell generates all hierarchical contents flat at to
p layout view, this becomes very challenging to floorplan and estimate the
aspect ratio of sub-cells and top-cell, this way it adds lot of re-work a
nd iterations to layout designer.\n\nFor designs that have unimplemented l
ayout views existing at the top level and the levels below and where the s
chematic has a hierarchy and some or all levels of the schematic hierarchy
have unimplemented layout views. Usually, for such designs, the placement
at the top level is oblivious to the actual lower-level instances, so the
top-level placement is often based on estimation. After the design is rou
ted, there might be changes needed to the top level that are often expensi
ve to accommodate. \n\nWith DPA, we can seamlessly implement both advanced
and mature nodes, backed by real routing data. It uses the schematic hier
archy to create virtual hierarchy that can be realised, when appropriate.
Blocks that have an existing layout in place and soft blocks, both are rec
ognised by the DPA as valid inputs for planning.\n\nVirtual Program: Prese
 nted In-Person
